Terms of Use – Imam University Libraries

This End User Agreement outlines the rights, responsibilities, and expectations for all users of Imam University Libraries. By using library services (including borrowing, reserving, or accessing digital resources), you agree to comply with these terms.

1. User Rights and Responsibilities

  • Eligibility: Borrowing privileges are granted to faculty, staff, students (undergraduate and postgraduate), external institute students, and external users (with a refundable deposit of 500 SAR).
  • Accurate Information: You must provide truthful and up-to-date personal details during registration.
  • Respect for Materials: You are responsible for the proper handling of all borrowed items. Vandalism, marking, or damage is strictly prohibited.
  • Prompt Return: All materials must be returned by the due date to avoid fines.
  • Compliance: Violation of these terms may result in suspension of borrowing privileges or other disciplinary actions.

Non-Circulating Materials: The following items may not be borrowed:

  • Reference works (encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories)
  • Periodicals and academic series
  • Theses and dissertations
  • Manuscripts, rare books, and single-copy items
  • Non-print materials (CDs, tapes, etc.)
  • Reserved or in-library-use-only materials

3. Fines, Loss, and Damage

  • Late Return: A fine of 0.50 SAR per day per item is applied after the due date.
  • Suspension: Borrowing is suspended once fines exceed 100 SAR.
  • Lost or Damaged Items: You must either:
    • Replace the item with an identical or newer edition (bound if original was bound), or
    • Pay the replacement cost as determined by the library, plus all accrued fines.
  • Failure to Return (1 year): The item is considered lost, and full replacement value will be billed.

4. Deposits & Financial Guarantees

  • External users must pay a refundable deposit of 500 SAR.
  • This deposit may be used to cover unpaid fines or replacement costs.
  • Deposits are refundable only after all library obligations are cleared.

5. Library’s Rights

  • The Library may recall any borrowed item at any time.
  • The Library reserves the right to suspend or revoke privileges for misuse.
  • The Library Director may grant exceptions to these policies when justified.
  • A library clearance certificate is required upon graduation or termination of employment.

6. Acknowledgment

Your use of Imam University Libraries constitutes acceptance of these Terms of Use. The Library is committed to providing equitable, respectful, and high-quality service to all users.
